April 17, 2004 ... Our first organized run of the year.
Several members of the Mudmeisters ( Ric & Curtis ) joined up with their fellow Frankford Offroad Club members ( Paul, Joe, Jaclyn )as well as some from the North Hastings Offroad Club for this run. We all met at the Madoc Fairgrounds and headed into the entrance to Lingham Lake. After travelling a couple of kms. east along the hydro line, we headed north on what could be described as a "quad" trail. |

Meeting Joe near Springbrook.
Checking out Curtis' rebuilt carb. Joe preferred to ride with Ric's Lexus up to Lingham as opposed to the Suzuki's kidney busting suspension. However once there ... he wisely chose the SuZUKi.
|
Hmm ... Now What?
How did he get into this situation ... a tree behind him and a DEEP beaver pnd into front. 454c.i. was no advantage but he made it out by "trapezing" off the side. |

|
NO SNORKEL ?
Our first major water crossing grew apprehension from the snorkelled group as to whether the "Lexus" could cross the puddle. NO PROBLEM dudes ! However I now have a snorkel ... just in case. |
FLUFFY the leader.
Like a little muskrat, Fluffy, driven by Al led the way through the trails. |
|
|
|
Red "Weasel"
Paul Lawson, leader and founder of the Frankford Offroad Club ran behind Fluffy, blazing a trail over the rocks, throught the mud and under the trees. Joe and Jaclyn accompanied, adding weight to the light weight buggy. |
Another ZUK
These things are like rodents, they seem to breed everywhere ... and go everywhere. This one had overheating problems. The driver is 6'4" ! |
|
|
|
IMMOBILIZED
Lockers and 454 c.i. and going nowhere. Why are the doors and top still on this Jeep. Aren't they for the open are?
|
Fullsize +
Mark's 7000 lbs. of raw Chevy.... stuck. 9000 lb. Superwinch off the Land Cruiser hauled it out. How this made it through the bush I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND. Obviously Mark carries a CHAINSAW. |
|
|
|
Quick ... my Rolex !
All sorts of hazards confront the "help". |
Ric's CARNAGE
On the trip out, Ric had problems 1/ backed into a tree and moulded the bumper into a new shape. 2/ ran too close to an overhanging tree dodging a boulder and popped his ear side window. 3/ created "charging" problems with the electrical system |

|
You say the trail gets narrow?
WRONG setup for this run. These boys only made it about 1.5 km in before troubles. Passed them on the way back out as they were having mechanical problems and physical problems getting between the trees. |
WHY ME ?
Curtis ran the wrong line across the river ... SO ... Ric to the rescue. The water was COLD. Even though the Land Cruiser was quite submerged, like a good ROLEX, it kept on tick'in. Note: Only vehicle ( I mean pilot )not to make it across.

Careful, don't push or over it goes!
Is Curtis concerned about the Land Cruiser laying on its side. No ... he's just asking himself ... "why me, why me, how do I get into these situations?"
It should be noted that the Cruiser and its SUPERWINCH pulled everyone across the mud. Nice job Curtis. |
I can MAKE it ..., well maybe NOT !
Ron's Ford with 460 c.i. was NO match for a wee bit of mud ... that didn't stop any of the 3 ZUKs. |
