GEOCACHING

Another of our interests is an activity called "Geocaching". Basically this involves hiding a "Treasure Box" stuffed with $1- items, out in the woods and by using a G.P.S., pinpointing its location (latitude & longitude).  We then post this on the internet at the link listed below.

Other Geocachers then access the coordinates from this site and by using their G.P.S., seek out the "Treasure Box". Generally they sign a visitors' log, take one "treasure" out of the box and replace it with another.

Presently we have about 10 caches hidden, including ones at the Brighton Hunting Area, Lingham Lake (2), and the forest access road from Gunter to Cloyne. A multistep cache followed by a BBQ at Lingham Lake was planned for the summer but will be done in 2005.

Vehicle Upgrades

Mike and Ric finished repainting the 4Runner, so Ric installed a tach and a "snorkel" before the Sept. run into Lingham Lake. He now has the snorkel ( late summer 2004 )to keep up with the "Aquatic Cruiser". That will be followed by a light bar for the roof. He has already backed into a tree and needs a new tubular bumper. Had to replace a broken side window.

Curtis did some body cosmetics. He repaired the body of the Land Cruiser. He just had the carburetor rebuilt.  An orange paint job was done. For the June Lingham run, I think he may install a periscope and a fish finder ! You should see this thing go through water ! With 4:88's it can CRAWL.

Mike has rebuilt his Jeep. Hopes are high. Teething problems are concerns right now.
